Welcome to Metis

Metis High IQ Society is a community for individuals with demonstrated high intellectual ability. The society's admission threshold is 125 IQ on the SD15 scale.

You may qualify by submitting qualifying results from an accepted assessment for review.

Once your qualification has been approved, the final step is simply to pay the **€22 lifetime membership fee**, reduced from the regular **€29** fee.

Proctored IQ Tests

Metis accepts qualifying results from recognized intelligence and cognitive assessments administered by a licensed psychologist or other appropriately qualified professional.

The examples below represent commonly recognized professionally administered assessments. Where an assessment has a published maximum score, the approximate ceiling is shown. For tests without a directly comparable IQ ceiling, the scoring range depends on the edition and normative system used.

  • Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) / Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) — David Wechsler
Approximate ceiling: 160 on many editions
Domains: Verbal comprehension, perceptual/fluid reasoning, working memory and processing speed
Known acceptance: Metis, American Mensa, Intertel, International High IQ Society, GRIQ
  • Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales — Stanford-Binet / Binet-Simon tradition
    Approximate ceiling: 160 on the Stanford-Binet 5
Domains: Fluid reasoning, knowledge, quantitative reasoning, visual-spatial processing and working memory
Known acceptance: Metis, American Mensa, Intertel, International High IQ Society, GRIQ
  • Stanford-Binet 5 (SB5) — Gale H. Roid / Stanford-Binet
    Approximate ceiling: 160

Known acceptance: Metis, American Mensa, Intertel, International High IQ Society, GRIQ
  • Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities — Woodcock-Johnson
Approximate ceiling: Varies by edition and composite
Domains: General intellectual ability, comprehension-knowledge, fluid reasoning, processing speed, short-term working memory and visual-spatial processing
Known acceptance: Metis, American Mensa, Intertel, International High IQ Society, GRIQ

    Known acceptance: Metis, American Mensa
  • Peabody Individual Achievement Test (PIAT) — American Guidance Service
Approximate ceiling: Varies by edition and subtest
Domains: Academic achievement, verbal knowledge, reading, mathematics and related educational abilities
    Known acceptance: Metis only
Note: PIAT is an achievement assessment rather than a conventional full-scale intelligence test.
  • Mensa Membership Qualification — Mensa
Approximate ceiling: Depends on the qualifying assessment
Domains: Depends on the underlying qualifying test; generally general cognitive or fluid reasoning
A valid Mensa membership card or certificate may be submitted as evidence of qualification.
  • American College Test (ACT) — ACT
    Approximate ceiling: 36 composite

Approximate ceiling: 1600 on the current scale; historical scales differ
    Domains: Reading/writing and mathematical reasoning
Known acceptance: Metis; some high-IQ societies accept qualifying historical SAT scores

Accepted Non-Proctored Tests

Metis recognizes a limited number of non-proctored assessments that have been developed for high-range cognitive assessment. Results must be submitted with sufficient documentation to verify the assessment, score, and identity of the test taker.

Only the first and second attempts are accepted where an attempt restriction applies.
